Under the Sink

Retro Housewife has issued a challenge to show her what is under our sinks, or what we use for cleaning for those of us who do not keep cleaning supplies under the sink so here it is. Since we have moved and I had to start from the beginning I have made an effort to go as simple as possible with my supplies I have:
Seventh Generation: dish soap, dishwasher detergent, and all purpose cleaner
baking soda
vinegar
shout
Febreez allergen reducer
borax
sea salt
liquid starch
and I need to buy rubbing alcohol
That it I use a combination of these to make various cleaning products like window washer, floor cleaner, shower spray, and scouring powder.
To take the challenge head on over to Retro Housewife and follow the instructions.

Looks like you are well on your way. :) If you are still looking for natural things to use for shout and
Febreez allergen reducer I use Biokleen Bac-Out for shout, it works way better! I just used it yesterday on our bedding which my hubby got chocolate on and then rub it trying to get it off and left it for awhile because he forgot to tell me lol, it almost all came out with just the Biokleen before I washed it! It can be used on all fabric even stuff you can't wash, I used it yesterday to clean a spill off the carpet. Smells great too! And it gets out odors.

For Febreeze we use Pure Ayre Odor Eliminator, I just found this so haven't tested it much yet but seems good so far. For the allergy part (we have bad allergies as well) I just vacuum and dust more, I didn't find the febreeze to really do much anyway.

I also see bleach, borax and homemade color safe bleach can take over that need as well as sun bleaching.

That is the recipe I use for color safe bleach. Also there is a mold cleaner recipe on that post.

Again great job! I love 7th Gen. If you have a Walgreens they do a 1/2 off sale pretty often for 7th Gen. I always stock up then.

looks just about the same as mine, we have almost all the same items. I watch, How Clean is Your House with Kim and Aggie every now and again and get such good ideas on making up your own cleaing products.

Lisa,
I forgot about the bleach!!! I even checked the photo several times to make sure I had everything. Honestly we hardly use it an odd job that needs the extra uhmf. I will have to look into the other products and see if I can get them here or if there is an equivilant in the British stores.

Patty,
I used to watch How Clean is Your House too. I'm not sure if we have it now, just basic channels and I havn't turned the TV on durring the day. I did learn a lot from them though.

We enjoy making most of our own cleaners too :). We've been using straight Fels Naptha soap for pre-treating stains now that we have finally found a store that carries it, but we keep a bottle of shout handy for those particularly tough stains or when I'm really in a hurry. I'll have to try one of the recipes suggested above before I replace our nearly empty bottle of shout :).
